EXCERPT
FROM PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION. 2000 10 01
by Swein B. Alloway,
MD, MRCPsych.
"Acrophobia and other
anxiety disorders can have an explosive and alarming development. It seems
likely that the symptoms
A suffered was a result of a longterm process. Anxiety functions as
the human organisms psychological immune system. It
can sometime develop an "overload" to the nervous system. And result in
a complete blackout.
The scenario for A
indicates a rapid progression and future outbursts of acrophobia are likely.
The patient should be aware of this and not expose herself to threathening
situations e.g. heights that can lead to attacs of acrophobia."
